The idea behind sapDesign’s Tilter® mechanism can be traced back to Svein Asbjørnsen’s studies at the National Academy og Art and Design (Kunst— og håndverksskolen) in Oslo in the 1960’s. A time when the traditional working chairs were based on fixed and immovable constructions. His thoughts did mature over time, and after experimenting with materials and production methods, the solution with vulcanized rubber arose.

“The micro movements from the mechanism gives significantly increased comfort while sitting, and has a positive effect on our blood circulation.”

sapDesign’s Tilter® mechanism is being produced in several versions, by the Danish rubber producer Betech AS, and is sold all over the world. Tilter is being used in chairs for offices, schools, conferences, lounges and homes. In 2016 sapDesign’s Tilter® received the Interzum Award for intelligent material & design at the Interzum Fair in Cologne.
